Job 15

^{1 !} Eliphaz reprehendeth Job, because he ascribeth wisdome, and purenes to him self.

^{2 a} That is, vaine wordes, & without consolation?

^{4 c} He chargeth Job as thogh his talke caused men to cast of the feare of God & prayer.

^{5 d} Thou speakest as do the mockers , and contemners of God.

^{7 e} That is, the most ancient, and so by reason the moste wise?

^{8 f} Art thou onely wise?

^{11 g} He accuseth Jobs pride, and ingratitude, that wil not be cmforted by God, nor by their counsel.

^{12 h} Why doest thou stand in thine owne conceite?

^{13 /} Ebr. in thy spirit.

^{14 i} His purpose is to proue, that Job as an vnjust man & an hypocrite is punished for his sinnes, like as he did before, {Chap. 4,18}

^{16 k} Which hathe a desire to sinne as he that is thirstie to drinke.

^{16 !} He describeth the curse that falleth on the wicked, rekoning Job to be one of the nomber.

^{19 l} Who by their wisdome so gouerned, that no stranger inuaded them, & so the land semed to be giuen to them alone.

^{20 m} The cruel man is euer in danger of death, and is neuer quiet in conscience.

^{22 n} Out of that miserie where into he once falleth.

^{23 o} God doeth not onely impouerish the wicked oft times: but euen in their prosperitie he punisheth them with a gredines euer more to gather: which is as a beggerie.

^{24 p} He sheweth what weapons God vseth against the wicked which lift vp them selues against him, to wit, terror of conscience, & outward afflictions.

^{27 q} That is, he was so puft vp with great prosperitie, & abundance of all things, that he forgate God: noting, that Job in his felicitie had not the true feare of God.

^{28 r} Thogh he buylde & repare ruinous places to get him fame, yet God shal bring all to naught, and turne his great prosperitie into extreme miserie.

^{29 s} Meaning, that his sumpteous buyldings shulde neuer come to perfection.

^{31 t} He standeth so in his owne conceite, that he wil giue no place to good counsel, therefore his owne pride shal bring him to destruction.

^{33 u} As on that gathereth grapes before they be ripe.

^{34 x} Which were buylt or mainteined by ??? and briberie.

^{35 y} And therefore all their vaine deuises shal turne to their owne destruction.
